The Crail Museum volunteers are celebrating the award of full “Accreditation” by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and the end of a very successful season, with higher visitor numbers than last year.
The MLA “Museum Accreditation Scheme” sets nationally agreed standards for all museums in the UK. Crail Museum’s award shows that it meets the guidelines on how it is run, how it looks after its collections and the services it provides for its visitors. Dr Geo Chalmers, Chairman of the Trust, pointed out that it was a real achievement for an all-volunteer run museum to meet the requirements. Working towards the award has been ongoing for more than two years and has involved many volunteers and particularly Sue Bradman, Hon Curator.
